X-rays create images of the inside of your body. It uses a radiation called electromagnetic waves. The digital imaging will highlight certain areas of the body. The technician will be able to see without having to make an incision. An X-ray detect broken bones, tumors, swallowed objects, and conditions like pneumonia.

Common Reasons for Needing an X-Ray:

  • Diagnosing bone cancer, arthritis or osteoporosis
  • Detecting breast tumors
  • Detecting fractures in bones
  • Viewing inside the chest for conditions like pneumonia


We will talk to you about the benefits and risks of getting your X-ray. You can weigh your options and make the best decision for you. You may be asked to change into a hospital gown, depending on the area getting tested. Sometimes it’s necessary to take contrast dye in order for the imaging to come out clear. The contrast dye may be taken as an injection, insertion or orally. We will inform you if this is necessary. There are specific instructions on the positioning you need to use for the test. Before the test we will also talk you through the entire procedure. It is painless, but we will ensure that you are completely comfortable . Your doctor will then receive your results after a technician assesses them.
